Monitors vs. 1 Big Monitor

Question

Over 10 years ago, I recall research that had shown most people were more productive with 2 monitors verse 1 big one. Is that still true? Has anyone seen any recent research on the topic?TIA

I haven't seen any research that has pointed to me to one or the other. I can however give you my own experience.
I have mixed feelings about this. I moved from multiple monitors to one big monitor. I do not see a considerable difference between one or the other.
Obviously this is all subjective so I cannot give you any numbers to back this up. I am however not going back to multiple monitors.

Probably depends a lot on which window manager you use. Even Windows does virtual desktops these days.
Sounds like personal preference more than anything else.
I don't want to turn my neck all the time, so one big monitor is better for me.
