I have been ghosted from 3 companies. What am I doing wrong?

Either after initial conversation with recruiter, or after submitting a take-home assignment, I simply stop getting any responses from the recruiters. I try emailing them but never hear back.Background: 5+ SWE years at FAANG. The companies range from 200 to 5000 engineers.Are non-FAANG companies nowadays ghosting instead of rejecting?

I've heard this from a lot of candidates as we have been actively interviewing for the last few months. To be fair, I can't say it has never happened as we recruit but I try hard to make sure we never go without telling someone an answer. But I know we failed to get back to 2 candidates at the end of last year, holiday's and a busy schedule were the reason but not a good excuse. The candidates did nothing wrong, we just weren't going to move forward with them.
I think this happens more then people realize, companies get focused on the candidate pipeline and stop paying attention to candidates they aren't bringing on, not saying it is right, but I think that is what is happening many times.

I'd take it as a "move on" hint, though I do personally know people at FAANG who waited months after some interviews before getting in. 3 applications also isn't a lot, imo; the hiring grind can be very real.
