Experience with smart glasses to replace laptop monitor for dev work

By smart glasses I mean devices in which a computer video is projected, not necessarily with the image changing based on head motion.

Is anybody using one of those to replace their work computer display for doing dev or sysadmin work? Or has anyone tried but found that it wasn't working for them?

I am hoping to solve two issues:

  * I like to sit in different seats, different rooms, and even on the floor throughout the day. Having the computer display projected in my eyes rather than having to move my head to orient my eyes towards the screen would allow me to always have the posture I want. No need for special desk etc...

  * reading glasses: with my short distance sight detoriating with again, I feel I need a different prescript for each distance I set my laptop at

I have tried google glasses , after actively using it for 10 minutes, it will get very hot and start to burn my face. And luckily that won’t last very long due to poor battery life.

I have thought about using a VR headset. I'd be curious to see any reviews on this.
