Has anyone here left tech and gone into a “homesteading” lifestyle?

My wife and I have recently bought 3 acres of land about an hour and a half away from two major cities in Canada.

I'm interested in hearing the stories of anyone here who was heavy into the tech space and has started or are already transitioned into a more "homesteading" lifestyle.

What do you mean by homesteading lifestyle?

If you’ve made decent money and you don’t have an active in-person social life, it’s easy enough to move to the countryside and drive into town every 1-2 weeks for groceries. Gets kind of old after a while to be so isolated. Tip: Buy an existing house before trying to build.

On the other hand, if you’re dreaming of living off the land, unplugging from the internet or even utilities, that’s probably best left to daydreams. It’s a common fantasy, but it’s far more work and manual labor than most people imagine.

I’d suggest getting into a weekend camping routine a couple times a month on the property before you do anything more expensive. Decide if you really like being so far away and having to prepare so much. Build a yurt or tiny house if you must. Start slow.
