Backup Android contacts without Google?

I've gone through many phones over the years and am sick of losing all of my contacts. On the other hand I tend to default to not letting google backup my phone as I'm trying to reduce my dependency on the google ecosystem.

Are there any third party services that people recommend that allow me to store my contacts in an e2e manner externally or even my whole app data or phone state that are not google services. I'm open to paid services.
