Good Paper(less) document management system
I’m looking for a good, preferably open source document management system. Right now I ocr loads of PDFs that come in from my scanner up to a samba share with a custom script. Is there anything more powerful than that, perhaps with full text search, or even something fancier like cover sheets with barcodes?
I’m using DEVONthink, it’s very powerful and pretty well thought. You can organize your documents in folders or by tags, do full text search, convert to OCR, and so on. Unfortunately it’s a proprietary (and paid) software and I haven’t found a free/open source alternative yet.
Evernote ? It's not super good for this purpose, and you will need to move to one of the paid programs but it offers scanning, searching in PDF and some organization and structure
