How do you visit museums?

I don't think anyone really learns how to visit a museum, but everyone seems to have their own method/style -- especially for large art museums.I'm curious about things like: Do you take notes or photos to remember what you liked? Do you explore thoroughly or just focus on a few pieces? Do you use a guide? Do you look up interesting pieces on the Internet to learn more, or do you just pass by?

I usually go in like a blank canvas and come out as a cultural piece of art. Everything sits in the head and the soul. Could never think of taking pictures, using guides or anything else. Art must be felt in my opinion.
