Antivirus for Linux?

My question is basically: Does it make sense to install an antivirus software on Linux? If so, which one would be the most recommended both free and paid? And finally, are there any open-source antivirus solutions? Thanks!

Depends what you want it for. Are you running windows shares that you are writable/executable by users? It probably wouldn't hurt to run clamav on them.

Running it in your own files? Have you got a specific threat scenario in mind? Unless you're being targeted, I wouldn't bother since virtually all malware assumes windows.

I've used clam in the past. Mostly because it was in the default repositories and I didn't have to do much to get it working.
