Currently working on a handful related to retro tech and networking. None of it is very monetizable.

1. I have a handful of old ISDN video terminals that use the H.320 standard for video conferencing. Working on getting these up along with a server that will let me use them with more modern tech.

2. I started briefly on a few prototypes for an X.25 implementation. I haven't worked on this in a while. X.25 is still mildly confusing to me.

3. I have a CMTS and a decent SDR to eventually maybe build my own DOCSIS modem prototype. I'll probably use the SDR for a handful of other things in the future.

4. Provided I get any of the prior done, I might try to build a token ring stack.

5. Even further out, there are a number of technologies I want to play with, notably visible light communication. Perhaps when 802.11bb is released I’ll take a look.

The cool thing is I have all these old network protocol analyzers from the 80s-90s that will actually get used for a "practical" reason. Funny enough it's significantly cheaper to buy these than to get the cards to implement T1/E1, V.35, RS449, etc. interfaces for a modern PC.

Eventually, I want to build a custom piece of furniture to house and rack a lot of my equipment for my retro network, complete with modular panels on the side for access to serial / network ports along with servers and my dummy terminal. I don't think I'll have the space, skills or environment for this any time soon, though.

Uisual (https://uisual.com), a collection of free plain HTML/CSS (no JS) landing page templates for startups. I've been working on it since December 2020. So far the feedback is great. Uisual was featured on Speckyboy, Web Designer News, and more.

My goal with this project is to get a job. Whether it's freelance, part-time, full-time, or contract. That's why they're free. I need others to help me to spread the word faster.

I started building a multiplayer drawing/guessing game (https://www.multiplayer.com.au/) last year that I plan to get back to working on this year to "finish" it.

It definitely needs to be polished up in terms of both the UX and the tech as I took a lot of shortcuts as it originally started as a 4-hour project just to see if I could build something with canvas and websockets, which eventually turned into a game format rather than a freeform whiteboard after a number of evenings spent on it.

Given that I'm now more comfortable with websockets, I also want to try my hand at a few different style casual games and hopefully be able to get to a point where people can jump from game to game on the site as a group.

I'm doubling down on what I believe in after 2020. I started too many things and wasn't able to commit to them properly.

Highest priority is growing https://portabella.io, we're on the brink of MRR and 2020 was about getting the base features out the door. Content marketing, tutorials, guides will be the goal for me here.

https://block-hooks.com is my other focus, I think it has real potential to take off given the growing ecosystem.

https://www.tree-annotation.org/

minimal universal syntax

on top of that building notations for data (like JSON), markup (like XML/HTML), and source code (like S-expressions)

to me it's beautiful and feels like a holy grail of simplicity; it's pretty fun

I want to push it far as possible from the point of being a little curiosity towards the point of being a universal optimization that improves the software world

The same as in 2020, 2019, 2018 ... and 2013. A self hosted analytics platform: https://www.usertrack.net

This is the year when I will find out if selling an analytics platform as a digital product (instead of a SaaS or open-source) can really work or not.

I am taking a rest from coding projects (eg SaaS) and focusing on building my developer brand via my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/LachlanMiller. I mainly talk about Vue and some other things.
