What should I know about building on top of existing WordPress websites?
Hey HN - I've recently been approached by someone who wants me to 're theme' their WordPress (Elementor / Customizer) website. I normally build bespoke applications (React / TypeScript), and don't have much experience with the WordPress ecosystem.
Are there any common gotchas that I should look out for when assessing whether this is a project I should steer clear of?

If you can get away with customizing everything via elementor, you should have a fairly easy time of it. Be warned though, if you can't then working around what tools like elementor and wp think is "the way" can be a challenge.
You should probably love PHP before getting involved. Some people do, I personally don't.
