I started using Pop!_OS after I ran into no end of issues trying to get Ubuntu to work with my graphics card. Pop!_OS is a flavor of Ubuntu that's maintained by System76, a Linux laptop vendor.

Two selling points of Pop!_OS for me:

- It Just Worked with my high DPI monitor—no futzing with settings or drivers. - It Just Worked with my graphics card—no tweaking kernel launch flags when trying to install the operating system.

I'm sure other operating systems can be made to work as well, but Pop!_OS was the first distro I tried that didn't give me problems.

I currently installed arch and loving it.

If you want to understand more about linux then go with Arch as it really forces you to be creative in terms how you want your ideal environment to look like but if you starting out I would suggest go with manjaro or ubuntu

Kubuntu - i prefer KDE because for me it seems to be more flexible and less resource hungry.

Arch and Manjaro for person usage, which have both been great experiences for me depending on if you want to spend more time customizing/installing (Arch), or want a great and quick default experience (Manjaro).

I have enjoyed using Fedora. My experience on a ThinkPad laptop has been mostly smooth and working fine straight out of the box.

I am currently using Manjaro Linux with KDE Plasma as dekstop environment. It runs flawlessly on my laptop.

Debian. I find it consistently lacks layers of cutesy, well meaning bullshit other distributions often add.
