I'm sure this has happened to others. Have any of you found a mechanism to avoid this happening to you?
1. Switching jobs. If your job environment or role is abusive, overworks you or creates burnout, don’t hesitate to change jobs. We’re uniquely blessed in this field with that option.
2. “Get a life :)”. Focus on things outside work (family, hobbies, fun, etc)
3. Put work stuff away - literally put the work laptop away somewhere out of sight. Use a personal laptop outside work hours. Don’t install slack/email on your personal phone.
4. Focus on the fun work: don’t take on tasks you’re not well suited. Do what is enjoyable in the moment, what you derive joy from professionally.
5. Take breaks: exsersize, meditate, walk away for bits of time.
6. Let your coworkers in: be on a team where everyone gets to know each other as people, not just automatons doing work.
7. Accept the absurd and what’s out of your control: no work environment is perfect, things will happen that are annoying. Being able to step away and take breaks will help you laugh at the absurdity of it.
8. Stop caring about your status: Avoid politics! Stick to what you love to do in the moment. Not how much power you /your team has compared to others.
