As a kid, I inadvertently had to learn not to look at my keyboard when typing, after I imitated that scene from Hackers (1995) where dade spray-paints his keyboard because he was a cool hacker. Same movie taught me that "console cowboys" were cool, and so I was more inclined to make an effort when I started dabbling in Linux. Both skills have been well worth the effort.
