Why are there no M1 Macs in Bay Area?

It appears that New York, Boston and Seattle have just switched from 30 day lead times on new M1 Macs to having same-day in-store availability or delivery. But any San Francisco or Palo Alto order attempts still say "Jan 28 - Feb 4".

I was talking to a pretty avid Apple fan and he let me know that for the laptops, there are only 3 models that you can pick up in store. Base MacBook Pro Base Macbook Air MacBook Air +16GB +1TB If you're not looking at those 3 in terms of laptops, you're going in a queue.

I got one from the Costco in SoMa with no wait, that&rsquo;s probably the best bet for immediate availability.

Perhaps Apple is anticipating having to close their stores in California and are limiting shipments? I haven't been following the COVID news on the coast closely, but certainly the headlines coming out of central and southern California haven't been promising.
