In the USA, two movies are always shown during the holidays. "It's a Wonderful Life" [0] is a Frank Capra classic showing good triumphing over evil. "The Godfather" [1] appeals to America's fascination with crime, revenge, and the mafia. But America's real fascination is with American football. Football games are played and shown nonstop, every day. When they are not playing, there are endless shows that "analyze" them. The "Rose Bowl Parade" [2] is typically shown on New Year's day and features a colorful parade of floats all decorated in flowers. The parade kicks off the "bowl" season.

Today is Lá an Dreoilín in Ireland (and elsewhere) - the Day of the Wren.

People dress up in masks and straw outfits and parade through the town with a captured Wren (often a wooden one these days).
