How do you structure these at your work?

For a long time have used a mix of lists, prose, sequence diagrams, flow diagrams, network diagrams, etc. to illustrate ideas around a implementation- but I always feel like I am reaching for something more exact, standard and structured.

Would love to hear about how others have approached this problem.
