Where do software engineers work?


It’s often suggested here that FAANG has been the main driver of salary growth in the US. There are also few companies that employ as many engineers as the megacorps (each with tens of thousands of engineers). I’m curious what percentage of engineers work at a FAANG at this point. It seems to me it could be a non-negligible %, but I haven’t seen this get much attention. Anyone have any data?

This article says there are "over 10,000" engineers working at Google:

So if we're generous and say FAANGs employ 100K engineers, that would be about roughly 2.6% of U.S. software engineers.
