Do you find product comparisons useful when evaluating apps?

When I say product comparison, I mean a comparison displayed on your product website. The comparison is with some of your competitors. Naturally, this is meant to present your app in the best favourable light.

Do you find such product comparisons useful? Do you think they are essential, particularly if the market contains well known names? Or do you view such comparisons as too lightweight or selective?

As a customer, having independent comparisons is something I find useful. But they have to be from a trusted 3rd party.

I wouldn’t trust product comparisons from a company with a vested interest in showing their own products in the best light possible.

No, it’s a turn off. It tells me you’re just playing catch-up, rather than being so blindingly better than the competition that it is not even worth mentioning.
