Any consumer software distributed as a VM?

Was just reading the "pimutils" article, and realizing that it's python dependent gave me a sudden pang of doubt, because I've always had an uneasy relationship with my python installations. Then I realized that you could solve this by shipping a Dockerfile that installs pimutils and its deps, and then someone else might build an image, and someone else might embed the image in Virtual Box and white label it as an ordinary .EXE.

Stranger things have happened, right?
