Are you selling your recent Mac in light of the M1's performance?

Question

It's pretty depressing to think that I just spent $3k on a MacBook Pro for personal use, in January, that's now being outclassed by an Air which is 1/3 the price. It was supposed to be a 5+ year computer, and it's already starting to feel obsolete. I've never even sold anything on eBay before, but I'm experiencing a panicked urgency to sell it off while I can still get most of my money back and get an M1 (before resale prices inevitably plummet).Anybody else in a similar boat/have thoughts on the matter?

Same boat fella. But, The MBPpro just handles to much of my day to day critical stuff. At work, we do not allow cutting stuff edge into production on first release. That old-fashioned advice has served us wisely for a decade and led to many stress free evenings after a day of release. Surprises are fun for birthdays, not so much for mission-critical deployments. Waiting until 3rd gen, then donate current workhorse to a school and snag the new Apple M3

Their 2020 laptops aren't even full machines. If you want to go from undocked to redocked, you have to shut everything down and reboot.This has been going on for months. Do these people not use these machines? Do they not go between a couch and a desk with a Thunderbolt dock?

That'd only make sense once all the software I use is ported to it, and when they offer 32GB or more of RAM in the configurator. Until then this is bleeding edge early adopter stuff, which I'm happy to have others beta test.

Nope. won&rsquo;t be buying a new Mac. Installed ubuntu on my current MBP and am very happy.They do look nice, but i&rsquo;m not gonna pay 3x the price of a similar non-Apple just so they can tell me what I can and can&rsquo;t run.

No, as a developer, there's much tooling that isn't ready yet so I expect it the Intel macs to easily last me a few more years. I also avoid the first iteration of new Apple hardware.
