Alternative Client for MS Teams?

Hi everyone! I have to deal daily with Microsoft Teams, and it's the slowest software on my PC. I'm running it on Linux (unofficial client, [0]) because the original client is far worse.

Am I the only one that feels the necessity of replacing the client with an open source alternative that is not as bloated as the software provided by Microsoft? Is somebody working on the side to create an alternative client? I would love to contribute.

Maybe, to give some context, I can explain why I hate Teams so much: basically everything that requires an user input is delayed on average by 500+ ms (in my case, YMMV). Some times it happens that I type messages that are sent after _seconds_. So far it is the worst messaging app that I ever used.

I very much like the idea of Teams itself, but the implementation is really bad IMHO.

Since in the back it's just sending HTTP JSON requests, I feel like an alternative client can be eadily written: but so far I haven't seen anyone who tried to even write a library for it. I guess I'll be the first then (:

Just run it on Chromium/Chrome. Most features work — and the ones that don’t iirc are limited to a few meeting and telephone features.

It’s a good idea to do anyway, as it is a pig on memory and power use.

I wish they provided some functional web version that worked on Firefox.

E.g., as much as I dislike Zoom, they offer a fine web app and SIP endpoints to join calls from your favorite IP phone.

How about running it from firefox/chromium/google-chrome?
