The Wachowskis Question

I am curious to know why for historical reasons there is no reference to the directors of The Matrix birth names. I was really confused for several minutes swearing they were two men who directed the movie, but the Wikipeida article [1] had no reference whatsoever to that effect. It only contains female names. After googling for a while I finally realized the Wachowskis are now transgender and have female names. I realize there is a strong case to be made that people should be called what they desire, but are we simultaneously saying history is irrelevant and past is mutable if we desire it to be as a society?I realize this is a hot topic and many would shy away from discussing it, but I think it's a vital question and I'd appreciate HN's take on this.[1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wachowskis

Maybe that article has changed in the last 5 minutes since you posted, but when I look at it, the Infobox right at the top of the page clearly shows both Wachowski's birth names (the "male" names), and the second sentence of the first paragraph says "The sisters are both trans women".So while I appreciate what you're saying, I don't actually see any evidence of this "deleting history" stuff in the Wikipedia article.
