How did you solve the “messy office kitchen” problem?

I guess most of us know the problem of a messy office kitchen. Be it that the dishwasher is not filled or emptied, surfaces are dirty or full of used dishes, empty milk cartons are not disposed of, etc.I've never worked in any office where this worked. Instead I regularly saw passive-aggressive notes or "Let's all work together" emails by office management that mostly got ignored.Now my question is: has anyone successfully solved that issue? If yes, how did you actually pull it off?

Have your janitorial staff clean them on a regular basis and be brutal about forcibly cleaning out the fridge every friday and literally throw away everything that is expired or unlabeled.That&rsquo;s what I&rsquo;ve seen that actually works.
