I am looking for a new position and have a few on-site interviews scheduled in a different city. The companies interested in interviewing me are obviously willing to book my flights but the problem is that I am planning on interviewing with multiple companies while I am in that city.
So my question is- what is the correct etiquette here in terms of dealing with flight bookings?
1. Do I have the company that is interviewing me first on Monday book my inbound flight ticket and the company interviewing me last on Thursday book my outbound flight? I am kinda worried about this as these companies might not be too happy if they find out I am interviewing with other companies while on a trip that they partially paid for to fly me there.
2. Do I just pay for the tickets out of pocket? That way I don't owe anyone anything and they can't be mad.
If I go with 1. do I need to tell them that I am interviewing with other companies in the same city during my trip?
Pick one to do the flight (both ways). Perhaps the "richer" one, or the one you'd most like to work for.
If necessary, adjust the dates so that you can do the other interviews while there, and tell them you're looking around the city.
Maybe hit the other company up for their night's hotel room.
Being nice to companies you're interviewing with is a waste. I can assure you that they won't hesitate to be cut-throat with you.
