How do we stop the insanity around gender pronouns in our industry?

Had you considered respecting other people's requests about how you refer to them? Is that _really_ so hard?

The right way to stop this is for everybody to start saying "Ummm, that's not cool - don't do that, it's disrespectful and rude." to their friends/coworkers/management/children whenever they continue to use pronouns they've been specifically asked not to use.

Start advocating the other way: one pronoun for all and if anyone demands their own special pronoun, ask them why do they feel entitled to some kind of special privilege.

Putting aside flippant use of the term insanity, what is the issue with gender pronouns?
